Sneak Peek & Scripture for this Sunday

"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God."

Ephesians 3:17-19

Points for anyone who knows at least 1 of these verses.

This Sunday

Memorize this:

Psalms 139:13-16
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
I know it's a long one ~ so special prize to anyone who has the entire thing memorized!
Sneak Peek:
The summer sun has come to stay, bikinis, tans, outrageous legs,
They're all retarded and they all look the same,
And Barbie's body is melting down,
On her face a big fat frown,
'cause Mr. Cellulite just moved into town.
Well me and B we hate supermodels,
It's not that we know anyone personally,
It's just that I'm tired of being compared.
The boys they come here,With expectations for the summer,
And I refuse to take any part of this barbaric ritual,
'cause God has given me a mind, that I will use from time to time,
And I got more on my head, than what's made by Paul Mitchell.
It's just that I'm tired of being compared.
Was it worth the tears you fit the size?
Think it over once or twice, what lasts the longest in this life,
Character, or rock hard thighs?
And in the end do you believe,
That beauty lies in what you see?
'cause if you do, then baby you've been deceived.
As an added bonus ~ special prize to the first girl that comments on this post.
Hope to see you this Sunday!

This Sunday

Memorize these:
  • I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14

  • There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
Proverbs 14:12

Bonus- Who said this:
I am allowed to do anything, but not everything is good for me. Even though I am allowed to do anything, I must not become a slave to anything.
**what you will actually be rewarded for is a surprise, but it pays to be knowledgeable =)**

Sneak Peek for this Sunday.......

Today's post is for all of the girls that will be in our Sunday School class this Sunday.

The scripture for this week's lesson is:

" Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you
free." John 8:32
*special prize to anyone that comes to class and has it memorized*
The song that is being used is:
This is your life by Switchfoot:

yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead
yesterday is a promise that you've broken
don't close your eyes, don't close your eyes
this is your life and today is all you've got now
yeah, and today is all you'll ever have
don't close your eyes
don't close your eyes
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, are you who you want to be
this is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
when the world was younger and you had everything to lose
Hope to see you in class!

Attitude is everything

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our attitudes."

Growing up we all have aspirations. Usually many. But of all the DREAMS we have, there has to be ONE that sticks!
Sometimes God gives us a VISION - or a glimpse - of what He wants our lives to be. And then sometimes we cant see a thing! Its like a puzzle with a bunch of missing peices!
Do your "dreams" match up with what God has in mind for you? Do you dream of becoming an actress when God's vision for you may be, to be a teacher? Do your dreams line up with the Word of God? Do your dreams have you becoming all you can for Him? Or, do they have you chasing an ideal......fame, fortune, success according the world?
Its great to have ambitions! I suggest you set goals....I encourage you to be all you can be! Live to your full potential and all that!!! I believe you can be anything you want to be....But at what cost?
At the cost of forsaking the Will of God for your life?
Its possible for the Will of God to be the same as what we want.....BUT, in my OFTEN is NOT. Gods sees who we REALLY ARE. He has a specific plan for each one of our lives. We dont see ourselves the way He does. He tends to have a much higher opinion of us than we do. Which is nice =)
If we are'nt careful we'll sell ourselves short. Settle for so much less than we can be.
Maybe you think your dreams are out of your reach?
YOUR dreams may be, but God's dreams never are!
His vision for our lives is huge, we are the ones who diminish it.
He has a ministry and a mission for all of us.
So as you are setting your goals, dreaming your dreams, going about your life, remember to ALLOW God to direct your steps. He WILL pave the way for you. If you let Him.
A prayer I pray is this: " Order my steps according to your word, according to your will. Lead me and guide me everyday. Let my life be pleasing to you Lord, let my life praise you."
So if you're wondering how to go about allowing God to direct your steps, you could start with a simple prayer like that.

Think About It !.......

Be careful what you think, for thoughts become words.
Be careful what you say, for words become actions.
Be careful what you do, for actions become character.
Be careful of your character, for it is what you are.

"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer" Psalm 19:14

Post submitted by Lydia Reyes

The negative fast

For me the negative fast has been a little bit hard. It just makes you do a lot of thinking, about what you are going to say and if you should say it. On the other hand I can be easy, if you just tell the truth. We all think that if we want to be positive we have to lie, you don’t have to lie to be positive you just have to tell the truth in a more positive way. That will help you to know how to be more positive in your everyday life and help you learn to hold your tongue. Also through out this experience we have to build people up when there down. Now that’s the hard part for me. Living with three brothers you all ways get into these battles on “who’s better” or “who’s got the better comebacks” just to tell you the one who walks away and says nothing is the real winner. Right before you tare someone down you think that you going to be victorious and when you actually do you feel horrible. You feel bad for them and you try to make them feel better, but you really don’t know how much damage you have actually caused. I personally think that the negative fast can and will help me break old bad habits and build greater nicer habits.

What Will We Say??

Today in class we talked about the power of our words, and how effective words can be, both negatively and postitively.
Proverbs 18:21 says " Death and life are in the power of the tongue."
Words are a vehicle that express what we CHOOSE. Key word being 'choose'. The tongue has the ability to either uplift or destroy.
On the average, a person opens his or her mouth approximately 700 times a day to speak.
Thats a lot of chances to be destructive...or constructive!
"Let our words be acceptable in His sight..."
Thus began the 7 Day Challenge!! NO NEGATIVITY of any kind! For 7 whole entire days. That's 168 hours! or, 10,080 minutes! or, 604,800 seconds! That sounds like a loooooong time to be CHEERY!! But really, how often do we complain, put down, find fault...out of sheer habit? Its so much easier to see the bad than it is the good sometimes.
So I challenge you to spend 7 days refraining from any negative speaking. About ANYTHING! No griping, no complaining, no criticizing (yourself or others) We report back next Sunday to see how it went. Hopefully we will break some old habits....... Your parents are going to LOVE ME for this!!!
Its hard....I'm telling you! Ive already caught myself several times today...Seth and Lane think it means they cant get in trouble for 7 days....because I cant "gripe" at them!!! Ha! Ha!
7 days! WHAT WILL WE SAY???????????

Here's to a happier you,
Tasha Shoemake

Think BEFORE You Speak....

I just read a great quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, a former First Lady. " Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people." I am almost certain that none of us desires to be known as SHALLOW. Yet, many times we lower ourselves to that category without even thinking twice.
So how do we stop this problem? How do we stand up and lead others out of gossip and back to the truth?
The answer is easier said than done, we simply think BEFORE we speak.
You know that old saying..."sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"...... I dont believe it !!!!
Have a good day,
Tasha Shoemake

Up and Running...for real this time!!!!

Its rather first, and last, post was in July! Its October!!!! I had all these great ideas, and inspiration....then I just ???? I don't know..flaked?
The plan is: This Sunday I will enlist the involvement of the girls, and get this blog up and running! Various girls will be posting, as well as Leah West, our Youth Pastor's Wife and co-teacher of the Teen Girls Class. (room 10) Along with me.

Since I posted the first few pictures we have completely revamped our DECOR!!! And if I must say so myself......Its AWESOME!!! Its all zebra-y ( not a real word) with fabric on the walls, pink feather boas trimming the ceiling and FABULOUS black chandeliers!!! I think Leah and I truly outdid ourselves!! hahaha!! It was brilliant, creative inspiration and we take full credit for it! Along with the girls who helped us paint. Thank you to: Audrey, Luisa, and Aseri. I think its wonderful.....for a CLASSROOM? You'd have to agree, right?
See for yourself in the new pics I posted. We now have couches, chairs, a 'shabby chic' coffee table and trendy little floor cushions...our goal is a "lounge" type of feel, in the end having none of those ugly brown church chairs! They are totally cramping our style! You cannot have ugly-not cute things in your classroom! We even have a pink vacuum! Yes .....I know...........exquisite!!!

Our class has grown from 6 (our first Sunday 3 years ago) to an average of 29. We are so crowded we are now breaking into double sessions in November. Exciting? Yes...Overwhelming? Yes again!! Especially since the growth is almost entirely from our bus. The BLUE BOMBER!!!!
Our church girls are easily outnumbered, so its requiring a lot of adaptability of all of us! Its a great challenge to be faced with.
Bridging the gap in Room 10,

My First Ever Blog

This is my "first ever" blog....Im not real savvy when it comes to things I had the help of a friend! I want to thank Olivia Domingues for helping create this blogspot for me, and teaching me how to do all this stuff!!! And, my brilliant son, Seth who continually helps me with this as well as all other things technical I can't figure out!! Keep in mind, it is a work in progress....I am LEARNING and exploring, and finding fun and cute ( always has to be 'cute') ways to add things. So if you check back ever so often it will hopefully be new and exciting each time you visit. I plan to have lots of pictures! GIRLS LOVE PICTURES!!! As well as thoughts submitted by the girls of Room 10, super important info. like shopping events.....etc, etc...and lets not forget: encouraging and uplifting entries from myself and Leah West, Youth Pastor's Wife and fellow Teen Girls Class Teacher. This blogspot is called GIRLS FOR GOD, and we intend to do all we can to make this journey in living for God as meaningful, fulfilling, purposeful, fun, and exciting as possible! Its FUN living for God, and being a GODLY GIRL - FOR GOD is the most awesome thing you can be! "..aint no party like a holy ghost party cause a holy ghost party dont stop!"
Its a blessed life,
